Acres
Of Hope
Acres of Hope
seems a fitting name for a Liberian orphanage, particularly
an orphanage that takes in infants. Many Liberian orphanages
do amazing work raising children orphaned by Liberia’s fourteen-year
civil war and poverty-stricken conditions. The cost of infant
care, however, hinders many orphanages from taking in babies.
Acres of Hope, though, continues to accept infants, even the
sickest who otherwise face certain death.
Two Mercy Ships
families have been especially touched by Acres of Hope. The
Liberty Peet and Samuel Chapman are adopted from this orphanage,
and out of love and in an attempt to keep their children connected
to the orphanage and their culture, Kristin Chapman and Sally
Peet took their kids to visit each week. They brought cookie
decorating, a Christmas celebration, and puppets, among other
activities.
